PRIYANSHU BHATTACHARYA
Technology Investment & Strategic Growth Executive
Priyanshu Bhattacharya is a technology investment and strategic-growth executive with more than eighteen years of experience across technology, investment banking, private capital and strategic advisory. Much of his career has been spent between the story a technology company tells and the economics that determine whether that story really holds together. His work sits at the intersection of investment underwriting, technology deal-making and portfolio value creation: assessing whether growth is real and sustainable, where assumptions begin to break, and what capital, strategic or operating actions can create value. He is the founder and principal of Anchorpoint Advisory, an independent technology investment and strategic advisory firm working with companies, family offices and investors across Europe, the United States and Asia.
Across more than 50 completed M&A and capital transactions, and strategic reviews of over 100 technology investment and financing opportunities, his work has consistently gone beyond headline growth and valuation. The focus is on the underlying investment case: market attractiveness, competitive positioning, recurring-revenue quality, financial performance, cash conversion, valuation and downside risk. Across growth equity, venture debt, strategic acquisitions and other private-capital situations, this has meant challenging management forecasts, rebuilding operating assumptions, testing debt-service capacity and structuring downside protection where the headline investment case ran ahead of the underlying economics.
A second strand of his career has focused on strategic repositioning and portfolio value creation, often when growth has slowed, markets have become more difficult or the business model has become too complex for investors to understand clearly. Working with boards, founders and management teams, he has helped distinguish temporary weakness from structural problems, narrow market and product focus, exit lower-value activities, shift resources toward higher-value services and recurring-revenue propositions, improve commercial discipline and preserve capital while a revised strategy proves itself in the market. This work has covered technology-enabled services, industrial IoT, enterprise software and analytics, including repositioning programmes targeting approximately 20–25% revenue improvement. The underlying question is usually the same: what is the valuable business underneath the noise, and what needs to change for the market to recognise it?
His transaction experience spans capital raising, M&A, growth financing and strategic alternatives. He has advised companies and investors on equity and debt raises, acquisition and sale processes, valuation, transaction structuring, exit preparation and strategic capital decisions across software, cybersecurity, industrial technology, data, IoT and technology-enabled services. His work has included growth financings for venture-backed and private-equity-backed businesses, as well as sell-side exits where the challenge went well beyond running a process. In several complex situations, the business first had to be understood, simplified and repositioned so that investors or acquirers could distinguish the higher-value software, IP or recurring-revenue core from the lower-value activities around it. In some cases, clarifying the underlying economics was what made the transaction possible.
A recurring theme has been building technology-investment capability and developing differentiated views of markets that were still taking shape. At Santander Corporate & Investment Banking, he joined a newly formed technology team and built dedicated coverage across cybersecurity, IoT and industrial software. At Bryan Garnier, he co-founded the Smart Industries practice and developed sector mappings across IoT, industrial technology and smart mobility. At Saxenhammer & Co., he established and scaled the firm’s mid-market technology practice, building an eight-person team and introducing more systematic execution processes. That work has increasingly extended into thematic research across AI, cybersecurity, automotive software, industrial technology and semiconductors, combining market structure, competitive intelligence, business-model analysis and transaction evidence to form an investable view. The pattern has been consistent: understand the shape of a market before the market has fully agreed on its shape, and build the thesis before the deal flow catches up. He now applies the same approach at Anchorpoint across technology investments, fund and capital strategy, deep technology and technology-enabled services.
At Tata Consultancy Services, his early career placed him inside large technology organisations, working with clients including Apple, Novartis and Airbus. He later joined Cisco Systems, supporting planning across approximately €8 billion of European operations during a period of significant M&A integration. The experience provided an operating perspective that has remained important throughout his career: before assessing technology businesses from the outside, he had already seen how large organisations allocate resources, integrate acquisitions, make technology decisions and translate strategy into execution.
That perspective broadened further at the University of St. Gallen, where, as a research associate, he analysed the business models of more than 800 European technology companies. The work contributed to the Business Model Navigator and subsequent academic publication, while reinforcing an approach that has remained central to his investment thinking: look beyond how a company describes itself to understand how it creates and captures value, and what makes that model defensible over time.
His academic background combines technology, finance and strategy. He holds an Executive MBA (First Class) from the University of Oxford, postgraduate studies in banking and finance from the University of St. Gallen, an MA in International Business from Grenoble École de Management, and a degree in mechanical engineering from Cochin University.
